The night

Concert nights.

The concert is two hours. Getting out of it is the other two: thirty thousand people and no cars. The house plans the leaving before the arriving, so that the last song is the last thing you remember.

I

Dropped as close as the order allows

For a big night the police publish closures around the venue; the sarathi reads that night’s order and sets you down at the nearest point it permits, with time for the gates.

II

The car, outside the closures

It waits beyond the closed roads, by the hour, so it is never caught inside them when the crowd comes out.

III

A meeting point, agreed before

Chosen with you before the show — a landmark away from the gates, easy to find in a crowd in the dark. The sarathi is there before the last song ends, and writes with a photograph of where he stands.

IV

Home, quietly

Friends dropped door to door; water in the door; the cabin quiet after the noise. For a teenager’s first concert, a parent is told when they are in the car and when they are home.

The grounds, and what they ask

DY Patil Stadium, NerulThe biggest nights; a long walk out; close to Navi Mumbai Airport
Jio World Garden and the MMRDA grounds, BKCOne-way roads and police closures on the night; the meeting point matters most here
Mahalaxmi RacecourseFestival nights and the fair; the drop depends on the gate in use
NSCI Dome, WorliArena nights; the Sea Link close by for the way home
Bandra Fort amphitheatre · Shanmukhananda HallSmaller nights; the car waits at the door

Every night brings its own order from the Mumbai Traffic Police; the house links you to it and never promises a road they close. For cricket, a match at Wankhede; for the theatre, the NCPA and the Royal Opera House.

Inside every written figure: the car, your sarathi, fuel, every toll, parking at both ends and GST. Nothing is added on the day, and no meter runs.

Questions guests ask

How do I get a car after a concert at DY Patil Stadium?
Agree a meeting point with the house before the show, away from the gates. The car waits outside the closures and the sarathi is at the meeting point before the last song, with a photograph of where he stands.
Can one car take a group of friends to a concert?
Yes — up to four in a seven-seat car, and a second car moving with the first for more; everyone is dropped at their own door after.
Is it safe for my teenager to use the car alone after a concert?
The sarathi meets them at the agreed point, you are told when they are in the car and when they are home, and the journey can be followed live.
