A private car cannot carry a paying guest — the law and its own insurance forbid it. But if your car is right for the house, it can join licensed: the house arranges the change, there is nothing to pay to begin, and the car stays yours.
I
Nothing to pay to begin
The house arranges and pays for the change: the RTO steps, the yellow plate, the fitness test, the tourist permit, the first commercial insurance. It is recovered only from the car's own duties, month by month, as the agreement sets out — never asked of you while the car works with the house.
II
Still your car
The registration and the permit stay in your name. When the car is not on a duty, it is your family's, as it always was. The house's sarathis drive it for its guests, and it comes back clean, fuelled and photographed.
III
Paid for every duty
A figure for each duty, agreed in writing before the car moves, paid the same day the duty ends — the same terms every partner car of the house has. The house does not promise how many duties a month; it tells you honestly what it sees.
Why a private car cannot simply join
In India a car carrying a guest for payment must be registered and permitted for it, and insured for it. A private policy is written for private use; the moment the car is hired, that cover can fall away — on the one day it is needed. The house will never put a guest, a sarathi or your car in that position. So the car does not join as it is. It joins licensed.
The cars the house takes
Of the house's classesThe Innova Hycross and Crysta, the Camry, the Fortuner, the Carnival, the Vellfire and the LM, and the Marque cars — a Mercedes, a BMW, an Audi, a Range Rover. A car the guests of the house ask for.
Young and cared forUsually three years old or less, with its service history, no major accident, sound tyres, cold air, a clean cabin and no smell of smoke. The house inspects every car itself.
Selected, not everyoneThe house takes a car when it has guests for it. If yours is right but the time is not, you hear that plainly, and you are the first called when it is.
What the house arranges
The registrationA Bharat-series car leaves the BH series and takes a Maharashtra registration first; a private MH car changes its class to a tourist vehicle. The yellow plate, the fitness certificate and the tourist permit follow. The house sits with you at the RTO, or handles it with your signature.
The insuranceA commercial policy that covers the car carrying guests — and your family when it is theirs. The house finds the quote; you choose the insurer if you wish.
The car itselfAn inspection, the house's cabin kit — water, umbrella, chargers, tissues — and the cleaning before its first guest.
The timeUsually two to four weeks from the papers to the first guest, depending on the RTO.
What to know before you decide
The house would rather you hear these from it, before anything is signed.
The BH plate goesA Bharat-series registration exists only for private cars. A car that becomes commercial takes a Maharashtra number instead.
Resale changesA car that has been commercial usually sells for less than the same car kept private. Weigh that against what the car will earn over the years you keep it.
Insurance costs moreA commercial policy is dearer than a private one. In the first year the house pays it, as part of the change.
The car works only for the houseFor the term of the agreement the car carries guests for Unlyra alone — the house has invested in it. Your family's use is never restricted.
If you leave earlyWhatever of the change the house has not yet recovered from the car's duties is settled as the agreement says, plainly written, with no surprise in it.
No promise of earningsThe house never promises a number of duties or a monthly figure — to anyone. You decide on the car's own merits, with your own adviser if you wish.
The house has it.
A person looks at your car's details and writes back within two working days.
Your car already commercial? List it with the house. Would you rather keep it private and be driven in it yourself? A sarathi can drive you in your own car — ask the house.
Questions guests ask
Can my private car carry Unlyra's guests as it is?
No. A car carrying a guest for payment must be commercially registered, permitted and insured for it. A private policy may not cover the car once it is hired, so the house never uses a private car for a guest.
What does it cost me to begin?
Nothing. The house arranges and pays for the RTO change, the permit and the first commercial insurance, and recovers that only from the car's own duties, as the agreement sets out.
Is the car still mine?
Yes. The registration and the permit stay in your name, and the car is your family's whenever it is not on a duty.
Can a BH-series car join?
Yes, if it is right for the house — but a BH registration is only for private cars, so the car first takes a Maharashtra registration and then becomes a tourist vehicle. The house walks you through each step.
How much will the car earn?
The house never promises a number of duties or a monthly figure. Each duty is paid at a figure agreed in writing before the car moves, the same day it ends.
What if I want to stop?
You can. Whatever of the change the house has not yet recovered from the car's duties is settled as the agreement says, plainly written.
