YOUR PRIVACY

What stays with us, and what never leaves the car.

Discretion is not a feature of Unlyra. It is the house itself. This page says plainly what we keep, why, for how long — and how to have every trace of you erased.

There are no cameras watching you

No Unlyra journey is filmed or recorded inside the cabin — no camera, no microphone, ever. If a car carries a road-facing dashcam for everyone’s safety, it watches the road, not you, and records no sound from the cabin. What is seen or heard in the car stays in the car. Every sarathi is bound to this in writing; breaking it ends his time with us the same day.

What we keep

Only what a journey requires: your name, the number or email you choose to give us, your pickup and destination, your fare and its receipt, and the preferences you ask us to remember — the temperature you like, the silence you prefer. Nothing is bought about you, nothing is sold about you, and nothing is shared except with the sarathi carrying you, who receives only your first name and where you are going.

Payments. When you settle a fare through the secure link we send, your card, UPI or bank details are entered on the page of a licensed payment gateway (Razorpay, Cashfree or PayU, whichever the link names) and handled under its own licence and the Reserve Bank's rules. They never pass through unlyra.com and are never seen or stored by the house; we receive only a confirmation that the fare was paid, and the reference we print on your invoice.

How long we keep it

Invoices and payment records stay for eight years, because tax law asks it of us. Everything else — your preferences, your journey notes, your profile — stays only while you are our guest.

Your rights, honoured at a word

Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act you may see what we hold about you, correct it, or have it erased. With us this is not a form and a waiting period. Write one line to [email protected] or message +91 81202 86868 from the number or address we hold for you, and it is done — confirmed in writing, usually the same day. What tax law obliges us to keep, we keep sealed; the rest is gone.

Why changes travel through WhatsApp

A name and a phone number are public things — printed on cards, known to colleagues. So we never treat them as proof of identity. Changes, cancellations and anything touching your account are made by a message from the number or address we hold for you, because only you hold it. It is the same reason a private bank telephones you back on the number it knows.

If something ever goes wrong

Any concern about your information goes to [email protected] and is answered by the house itself, not a department — within 72 hours, always.

Where it lives, and who answers for it

Everything we hold about you is stored in India, on services we pay for and control. We do not sell data, we do not trade it, and we have never bought a list. Nothing about your journeys is shared with an advertiser.

Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you may ask us what we hold, ask us to correct it, ask us to erase it, or withdraw a consent you gave us earlier. You do not need a reason and it costs nothing. We act on it and write back to you within 72 hours.

The person answerable for this is our Grievance Officer, Yash Gupta, reachable at [email protected] or on +91 81202 86868. If we have not put a thing right to your satisfaction, you may take it to the Data Protection Board of India — and we would rather you did that than stay unhappy with us quietly.

One honest exception: where the law requires us to keep a record — a tax invoice, for instance — we keep that record for as long as the law says and not a day beyond it, even after you ask us to erase everything else.
