Why no name

Why our cars carry no name.

You will not find the house's name on a door, a window or a plate. It is the first courtesy the house offers: your arrival is nobody else's business.

I

Your arrival is yours

A name on a car door tells the street who is being carried, where the car waits and when it leaves. A guest of the house should be seen only by those they choose to be seen by.

II

The cars are partners' cars

Every car belongs to a licensed partner and carries what the law asks of it — the yellow plate, the permit's markings, its papers — and nothing else. Not a sticker, not a plate surround, not a wrap.

III

Known by its people

The house is recognised by the sarathi at the door, the card in the cabin and the way the journey goes — not by its paint.

How you will know the car

The evening beforeThe car's number and your sarathi's name and photograph, sent to you in writing.
At the terminalA board with your name — or a word you choose, or no board at all.
Inside the carThe house's card, its water, and nothing that asks anything of you.

It is also the law: in Maharashtra, a sign or a name on a commercial car is an advertisement that needs the transport authority's permission, and the cars are their owners', not the house's to mark. The house would choose this anyway.

Reserve a carThe car's number and your sarathi's name the evening before.
