About 120 km and a climb through the Kasara Ghat bring you to Igatpuri: waterfalls in the monsoon, mist in the winter, and some of the quietest retreats within reach of the city.
By the Mumbai–Nashik highway and the Kasara Ghat, or by the Samruddhi Expressway — the house chooses by the hour and the weather. Three hours or so, more in the monsoon.
From July to September the ghats run with waterfalls and cloud; the road is slower and the house drives it with care. Winter is clear and quiet.
For a retreat or a course of silence, the house takes you to the gate and collects you on the day it ends — and nobody calls in between unless you ask.
On to Nashik and its vineyards is an hour further. See all the places a drive from Mumbai.
