From the door of the Oberoi

The Oberoi, Nariman Point. From the door, and back to it.

The Oberoi, Nariman Point stands at Marine Drive, at Nariman Point. The house delivers guests to its door and collects them from it: from Terminal 2 in sixty to ninety minutes by the Sea Link and the Coastal Road, which now comes down almost to the door; Terminal 1 in fifty to eighty; Navi Mumbai Airport in seventy to a hundred by the Atal Setu. Your sarathi knows the porte-cochère, the lane, the hour the road is slow, and the hotel’s own staff know the house’s cars. The hotel’s concierge is not involved unless you wish it — the arrangement is yours, written to you, and the house answers for it.

I

At the door

The Oberoi and the Trident share a forecourt off Marine Drive; the house delivers you to the Oberoi’s own door under its canopy, the cases handed over, and collects from the same spot with the car brought up at the minute you say.

II

To the airport

Your sarathi suggests the pickup time for your flight and the hour, with time inside it for the road and the terminal; the cases carried to the departures kerb; the car at the door of the hotel, not idling on the road. For arrivals, met inside the terminal with a board in your name, two hours of waiting after an international landing and ninety minutes after a domestic one inside the figure.

III

For the day

From the Oberoi, Marine Drive at dusk is a short, slow drive the house is often asked for; Malabar Hill and the Hanging Gardens are ten minutes up; Kala Ghoda and the Fort district fifteen. A car for the day from the Oberoi is the way to see the south of the city without a thought.

The wait is inside the figure ninety minutes after a domestic landing, two full hours after an international one, counted from the moment the aircraft reaches the gate; the flight tracked from the city it leaves; the airport parking for the whole of that wait paid by the house. How the house waits →

Which car

The Innova Hycross hybrid for one or two guests and their cases; the Mercedes E-Class or S-Class for a guest who should arrive at the Oberoi as the hotel would wish; the Carnival for a family; a Marque car written for an occasion. The figures by zone are on the rate card and written to you before the car moves.

Inside every written figure: the car, your sarathi, fuel, every toll, parking at both ends and GST. Nothing is added on the day, and no meter runs.

A note on independence

The house is not the hotel’s car service and does not claim to be. It is a house of its own that many guests of the Oberoi prefer to use, for the sarathi who rides with them, the figure that does not move, and the car that waits. If the hotel’s desk can serve you better on a given day, the house will say so.
