Railway stations

Met at the coach door.

Mumbai has five great railway stations, and each one is a city of its own at train time. The house meets you where your coach stops, takes the cases from the door, walks you out by the right gate, and has the car waiting — whether the train is on time or not.

I

At the coach door

Your sarathi is on the platform where your coach will stop, with a board in your name. He takes the cases from the door.

II

The train, watched

The house follows the train's running from its last stations. A late train re-times the car without a word from you; the sarathi waits on the platform until you step down.

III

The long platforms

Platforms in Mumbai are long and crowded. The sarathi walks with you to the car; for more than a couple of cases, a licensed porter of the railway carries them.

IV

Onward

Home, the hotel, the airport, or straight on to Pune, Nashik or Lonavala in the same car, written as one figure.

Five termini, one way of meeting

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT)

The old terminus at the edge of the Fort, and a World Heritage building. The Central Railway's long-distance trains begin and end here, among them the Deccan Queen to Pune, which leaves in the early evening and returns mid-morning, and the Deccan Odyssey, which sets out and returns here between September and May — the house takes its guests to check-in in the afternoon of departure and meets them on the last morning.

Mumbai Central

The Western Railway's terminus in the heart of the island city, where the Rajdhani from Delhi and the Vande Bharat from Gujarat arrive. The car waits on the side the coach is nearest to.

Bandra Terminus

Not Bandra station: a separate terminus a short way north of it, reached by a narrow approach that queues at train time. Trains for Gujarat, Rajasthan and the north. Tell the house the train, and the car is at the right gate.

Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT), Kurla

Long-distance trains to the south, the east and the north, many of them arriving late at night, and a terminus visitors find hardest to leave. The house meets the coach and walks you out.

Dadar

Both railways stop here, on opposite sides of one crowded station. The house reads the train and meets you on the right side — Central or Western — rather than the nearest one.

Leaving by train

The house times the car to have you on the platform with time to find the coach — earlier at LTT and Bandra Terminus, where the approach roads queue. The sarathi carries the cases to the coach and sees you aboard.

Inside every written figure: the car, your sarathi, fuel, every toll, parking at both ends and GST. Nothing is added on the day, and no meter runs.

Last checked against the operators and the railways on 19 October 2026. Timetables are theirs and change; the house reads the day's before your car is timed.

Questions guests ask

Will the driver meet me on the platform?
Yes. Your sarathi waits on the platform where your coach stops, with a board in your name, and takes the cases from the coach door.
What if my train is late?
The house follows the train's running; the car is re-timed and the sarathi waits on the platform until you step down.
Is Bandra Terminus the same as Bandra station?
No. Bandra Terminus is a separate long-distance terminus a short way north of Bandra station, with its own approach road. Tell the house the train and the car is at the right gate.
Do you meet the Deccan Odyssey?
Yes. It begins and ends at CSMT in its season, September to May; the house takes guests to check-in and meets them on the last morning.
Can you take me from LTT straight to Pune?
Yes, in the same car, written as one figure.
