A day in port is short, and the morning you come ashore is shorter. The house does for a ship what it does for a flight: watches the arrival, has a sarathi waiting with your name, and plans the day so that you are back on board with time to spare.
The car at your door with time to spare for the ship's boarding window, and a car chosen for the cases — a Carnival or Hycross for a family's fortnight. The sarathi takes the bags to where the port receives them.
Ships come in early. The sarathi waits where the port lets cars wait, with a board in your name, and the house watches the ship's arrival as it would a flight.
The car by the hour for the city — the Gateway, Colaba, Kala Ghoda, a lunch you have read about — and back at the terminal well before all-aboard. The house plans the day backwards from the ship's time, not forwards from yours.
From the ship to Terminal 2, or to Navi Mumbai across the Atal Setu, in the same car, timed to your flight.
Mumbai's international cruise terminal stands at Ballard Pier, at the edge of the old Fort in South Mumbai — minutes from the Taj Mahal Palace and the Gateway of India, and about an hour from the airport when the roads are kind. The cruise season runs through the cooler months, and the great ships call between autumn and spring.
A wedding party sailing together, or a family reunion that ends at the pier: tell the house every name and every hotel, and it carries everyone to the terminal by name and home again. See Together.
Cordelia's ships — the Empress, and from this season the Sky — sail from the same terminal at Ballard Pier, to Goa, Kochi, Lakshadweep and on short sailings out to sea and back. Embarkation afternoons fill the lanes of Ballard Estate, so the house has you at the terminal well before boarding closes; on the morning you return, your sarathi is waiting when you come through, timed to the ship rather than to a guess.
Inside every written figure: the car, your sarathi, fuel, every toll, parking at both ends and GST. Nothing is added on the day, and no meter runs.
